Benefits of using the Catamaran sailing

There is an increasing tendency of using high speed catamarans. The first model of the high speed model was designed in Norway where it was employed as a ferry. It was devised in the year 1973 and had the name westamaran. Later, there have been various designs with very high speed in sailing. Due to their high speed; they are preferred to distance sailing. Apart from their speed, most sailors preferred them for their stability. power catamaran boats rarely sink even if a hole is drilled in them. They can fill with water but can rarely sink because the weight of the boat is evenly spread between the two hulls, and also it is made up of a buoyant material sandwiched. They are low in fuel consumption and are good in a rough sea. This is because of their stability and size. They are more tolerant to foul water and rampant waves. From the year 1970, their size has gone increasing from 20m to 115m long.

This still continues as technology increases. The Stena HSS is the fastest known worldwide which sails at 46 mph. There are various routes attached to the catamarans. As the development of designs increases, there is also the introduction of powered ones. They employ the characteristics of a motor yatch and also include the features of a multihull one. Those that use energy do not have any sailing instruments as seen in the model from the US. There are great improvements in the smaller yatch manufacturing organizations.
